Job Summary
Instructs students in management, marketing, small business and
other business courses using appropriate business software and
learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas; and teaches,
develops and prepares course materials for newly emerging and
established business system technologies, processes and content for
structured, hybrid and online classes.
Essential Functions
Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a
classroom (at Main and North campuses) and/or online setting; uses
multiple instructional delivery systems with an emphasis on
technology; uses course management software such as Canvas;
develops business programs; develops written syllabi/course
outlines and course materials; evaluates and assesses knowledge of
subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records;
prepares and grades exams; develops and enhances knowledge of
subject matter taught and individual training skills required to
remain current with new trends and developments in the field
through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars and/or
workshops; maintains office hours to assist and advises students;
and participates in district-wide, campus, and external
committees.
Minimum Qualifications
You need 5 years of occupational experience in the following
fields:
Business Related Fields and Industries, e.g. Accounting, Marketing,
Management, Finance, Small Business, Computer IT, Government
Agencies, Retail, Insurance. This is not an all-inclusive list. It
is impossible to list all potential subfields. If a subfield is in
question, it will go to the Business IC for a decision.
OR you will need 3 years of occupational experience in the
following fields as well as a Bachelor's Degree in any field:
Business Related Fields and Industries, e.g. Accounting, Marketing,
Management, Finance, Small Business, Computer IT, Government
Agencies, Retail, Insurance. This is not an all-inclusive list. It
is impossible to list all potential subfields. If a subfield is in
question, it will go to the Business IC for a decision.
OR you will need Master's Degree or higher in the following
fields:
Business Related Fields and Industries, e.g. Accounting, Marketing,
Management, Finance, Small Business, Computer IT, Government
Agencies, Retail, Insurance. This is not an all-inclusive list. It
is impossible to list all potential subfields. If a subfield is in
question, it will go to the Business IC for a decision.
OR you will need Master's Degree or higher in any field and 18
graduate-level credits
OR 24 upper division undergraduate credit in the following fields
or courses:
Coursework that includes:
Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurial Studies, General Business,
International Business, Insurance Studies, Management, Marketing,
Office Automation Systems, Public Administration, Small Business
Management, Business and Society, Total Quality Management,
Customer Service, Finance, Financial Planning. This is not an
all-inclusive list. If there is a question, refer it to the
Business IC for a decision.
And in these areas:
ACC, CAN, COV, CSM, CSR, EPS, FIN, GBS, IBS, INS, MKT, MGT, OAS,
OCS, PAD, SBS, TQM. This is not an all-inclusive list. Other
institutions may use different course codes. If there is a
question, refer to the Business IC for a decision.
Desired Qualifications
A. Master's degree in Business Administration or related business
area such as small business or entrepreneurship, such as degree
from an AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of
Business) accredited, research-oriented university.
B. Three years of teaching experience at the community college
level in management, marketing, small business and/or other
business courses.
C. Experience as a manager or small business owner.
D. Experience teaching online management, marketing or small
business courses with LMS system such as Canvas.
E. Industry experience using various types of social media and
small business software.
