phoenix, Arizona, 85087! Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU – UHC
Staffing Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU Location: Phoenix, AZ Start
Date: 01-12-2026 End Date: 04-13-2026 Contract Type: Travel
Contract Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night
shifts). Schedule varies to meet a 36-hour/week guarantee; includes
4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, possible standby shifts, and required
floating between ICU and Tele units. Hours per Week: 36 Candidate

Roles & Responsibilities Provide expert, compassionate critical
care nursing for neuro-critical patients in a 32-bed Neuro ICU
Perform thorough neuro assessments and manage intracranial pressure
(ICP) monitoring Safely manage ventilators and collaborate with
respiratory therapy for 24/7 ventilator support Care for patients
with external ventricular drains (EVD) and perform appropriate
troubleshooting and documentation Maintain sterile technique for
Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes;
complete SIMs Lab competency as required Document accurately in
Cerner EMR and communicate changes to the multidisciplinary team,
including pharmacy and physicians Float between ICU and Telemetry
units as needed while maintaining high standards of care and
patient safety Support unit operations by working with charge nurse
and participating in unit-specific orientation and trainings
Qualifications Active RN license (able to submit if not immediately
available) Required certifications: BLS and ACLS Minimum 2 years of
ICU experience in a large (450 bed) facility Required: Level 1
Trauma experience Required: EVD (external ventricular drain)
experience and strong ICP monitoring skills Experience with
ventilator management, telemetry, and Phillips monitors Cerner EMR
experience required 3-6 months travel experience preferred Must
pass DYS exam PRIOR to accepting (two attempts allowed; failing
results in 6-month ineligibility for CS AZ and Sac Region) Must
complete and pass SIMs Lab competencies (Foley insertion & central
line dressing changes) as required for placement Travel teams must
have their own vehicle and comply with a 50-mile radius rule
(driver's license is the source of truth) Appearance/fit-test
requirements: natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must
be clean-shaven for fit testing Education Active RN licensure
required; BSN preferred but not required (BSN not required for
submission) Knowledge & Skills Critical care nursing for neuro
patients Neuro assessment and management of intracranial pressure
(ICP) Hands-on EVD care and troubleshooting Ventilator management
in an ICU environment Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
(Phillips monitors) Competence with Cerner electronic medical
record Aseptic/sterile technique for lines and catheter care Wound
care, lifts & restraints, and safe patient handling Ability to
float across ICU and Tele floors and manage variable patient ratios
