Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: 1 year of full-time experience
minimum. Scrubbing required. Description: Unit has 6 surgical
suites plus a hybrid room. Approximately 20-30 cases are performed
daily. Common cases include total joints, general surgery, spine,
urology, and cardiovascular procedures for the Open Heart team.
Charge nurse and specialty leads are available as resources. House
supervisors are on-site 24/7. Scrub technicians are available. The
electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Shifts run Monday
through Friday with on-call requirements. General OR requires 4-5
weeknight calls, and cardiovascular OR may require 5-10 weeknights
per 6 weeks, with call frequency up to 50%. Weekend requirements
for general OR are 5 twelve-hour shifts and for cardiovascular OR
are 2 weekends per 6 weeks, potentially up to 50%. Holiday
requirement is 2-3 twelve-hour shifts per year. Call is divided
equally among staff in the same role. Travelers will begin taking
call after 1-2 weeks of employment. Call response time is within 30
minutes. There may be floating requirements to assist with
non-surgical activities, although it is rare for travelers to float
to other procedural areas. Scrubs are provided by the organization.
Unit-specific orientation will last 3-5 shifts, depending on case
load and exposure. The cancellation policy allows up to 3 shifts
per 13-week contract. Charting system is Cerner. No BSN required.
Trauma Level: Care Setting is Acute. Division: Nursing. Shift notes
