ACLS Must-Have: - Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam
with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts. - Must have
experience in ICU and/or PCU/Med Surg if worked in larger
facilities. - Required skills include the ability to titrate drips
for sedation, vasopressors, and insulin. Description: The unit
provides combined acuity care, accommodating various patient needs.
The bed capacity is 10 with varying ratios based upon patient
acuity. ICU ratios are 1:2, PCU ratios are 1:4, and MST ratios are
1:5-6. If there is no nurse aide, the primary RN ratio will adjust
to 1:3. Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, suicide attempts,
withdrawal symptoms, pneumonia, and post-operative complications.
RNs will manage ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP equipment as
necessary. There are Remote Monitor Techs available for patient
monitoring. RNs are expected to conduct 12-lead EKGs and monitor
patients using bedside cardiac monitors. Weekend shifts are
required every other weekend. Holiday rotations will be in effect
to ensure fair distribution of holidays among staff. There may be a
standby requirement during low census periods. Floating to
additional units will occur to maintain competency across various
care needs. Uniforms must not include camouflage. Appropriate
orientation will be provided based on departmental needs.
