Job Description:
Summary The Grinder is responsible for the setting up and
operating one or more grinding machines to grind surfaces of metal
workpieces to blueprint specifications, following tooling
instructions and standard charts and applying knowledge of grinding
procedures. Job Duties 6 years of hands on experience operating and
setting-up a Grinding machines, preferred. Be able to set-up
machines by installing and adjusting wheels, attachments, mags,
centers, stops, etc. Knowledge of commonly used concepts,
practices, and procedures involving these machines. Strong
knowledge of reading drawings, blueprints and specifications.
Experience with very close tolerance and high quality work. The
ability to execute complex set-ups requiring unique and non-routine
methods. Solid understanding of metal properties and use of
precision/non-precision instruments. Must possess strong basic and
some complex math skills. Familiarity with lean manufacturing and
continuous improvement techniques is beneficial. Understand ID & OD
grinding specifications, and best practices. Other miscellaneous
duties as assigned. Educational and Work Experience Requirements
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the related filed,
though prefer candidate who has 5 years of experience in the
related filed. Must be able to set up and operate ID & OD
centerless grinders efficiently. Must have good mechanical skills.
High school diploma or GED. Aerospace experience is preferred.
